The use of agricultural lands in the conditions of the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine

Abstract

Purpose. Study of problems of management, effective use and protection of lands. To this end, the study analyzed the impact of military operations on the condition of agricultural lands, assessed the effectiveness of the existing regulation of land relations, and developed recommendations for improving the land use and protection system through the use of a geospatial data analysis tool using geographic information systems. Methods. As a tool for improving the use of agricultural land in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, it is proposed to assess the state of land resources, conduct an inventory of damaged and contaminated lands, determine the level of soil degradation and establish their suitability for use. It is proposed to introduce modern agricultural technologies, restore crop rotation and biodiversity, and develop organic farming. Special attention is paid to the digitalization of the agricultural sector through the use of satellite monitoring to assess the state of land, the introduction of electronic cadastral maps, and the use of drones to monitor crops and soils. Results. The main stages of the process of using GIS for the restoration of agricultural lands are presented, which include the collection, processing and use of geospatial data. The influence of factors and consequences of soil damage by type as a result of hostilities is analyzed. Measures for the post-war restoration of agricultural lands are proposed. Conclusions. Post-war restoration of agricultural lands in Ukraine involves the use of satellite imagery, available geospatial information, and digital cartographic materials based on the results of geodetic surveys on the territory of disturbed lands, which requires conducting work on surveying, demining, reclamation, conservation, and improvement of agricultural lands, especially lands where agricultural products are produced.
