The role of information technology in modern veterinary medicine

Abstract

The article examines current trends in the development of veterinary medicine in the context of the use of information technologies. In particular, the role of electronic accounting and data processing systems, cloud technologies, remote consulting, as well as artificial intelligence systems and big data analysis is analyzed. It is emphasized that the accuracy and relevance of information directly affect the effectiveness of veterinary activities, as they allow for timely diagnosis of diseases, effective treatment planning and provision of necessary preventive measures. The features of information support are considered, among which data reliability, standardization of exchange formats, ensuring security and confidentiality, as well as adaptability and scalability of information systems are highlighted. Four main areas of development of information technologies in veterinary medicine are outlined: electronic databases, cloud services, telemedicine and artificial intelligence systems. It is shown that their systematic implementation contributes to the automation of processes, minimization of the human factor, increasing the accuracy of diagnostics and the formation of new approaches to the management of veterinary institutions. Special attention is paid to six key areas of information technology use, including monitoring, administrative management, training, scientific research, marketing, and interaction with the state veterinary service. A “black box” scheme is demonstrated, within which input data (identification information about the animal, examination results, information on maintenance and disease history) are transformed into output data in the form of diagnosis, treatment protocols, and analytics for management decisions. Based on the analysis, the goal, object, and objectives of the article were determined, and a conclusion was drawn about the high potential of information technology in increasing the efficiency of veterinary medicine. The article will be useful for scientists, teachers, students of veterinary specialties, as well as practicing doctors and managers who seek to optimize the work of their institutions and improve the quality of services provided.
