Features of Evaluating the Effectiveness of the Geriatric Management System

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to develop a comprehensive approach to assessing the effectiveness of the geriatric management system, taking into account modern demographic trends, the transformation of the needs of older adults, and the development of integrated care models. The study aims to generalize scientific approaches, identify relevant problem areas, and substantiate an evaluation algorithm that integrates medical, social, psychological, and economic factors. The research methods are based on the analysis of scientific publications in the field of geriatric management, bibliometric examination of trends using international scientometric databases, comparative and structural-functional analysis, as well as principles of multicriteria evaluation. Elements of the analytical hierarchy model, expert assessment, and the concept of integrated care were applied to develop a generalized evaluation framework.

The results of the study demonstrate that global scientific discourse is gradually shifting from a predominantly medical view of geriatric care to multidomain, patient-oriented models. It was found that the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and ICOPE are the most widespread frameworks; however, global practice lacks a unified set of indicators suitable for systemic evaluation both at the institutional and national levels. The bibliometric analysis confirmed an increasing interest in geriatric management issues in recent years and revealed significant disparities in research activity across countries. The study also showed insufficient development of economic components, weak integration of digital tools, and the presence of barriers associated with staffing and IT infrastructure. Based on the synthesized findings, an algorithm for assessing the effectiveness of the geriatric management system was developed, encompassing medical-social, organizational, economic, and quality indicators and incorporating multicriteria approaches.

The conclusions confirm the need to establish a coherent methodological framework for assessing the effectiveness of geriatric management, one that accounts for the integration of services, the individual needs of older adults, and the current requirements of healthcare digitalization. The proposed algorithm can be adapted to various administrative levels and may serve as a basis for developing national assessment standards. Future research should focus on forming a unified indicator system, evaluating economic efficiency, and advancing long-term monitoring tools.
