Integration of financial controlling of agro-industrial enterprises into development management during the formation of the grain market under conditions of digitalization and emerging economic challenges

The article provides an in-depth examination of the conceptual, methodological, and applied aspects of integrating financial controlling into the development management systems of agro-industrial enterprises, within the context of the evolving grain market, digitalization, and intensifying economic challenges. The research addresses the growing importance of financial controlling as an interdisciplinary management tool that combines planning, monitoring, analytical evaluation, and risk mitigation to enhance the strategic and operational performance of enterprises operating in a highly volatile agribusiness environment. The study highlights the multiple stress factors influencing the modern grain market, including geopolitical instability, logistical disruptions, price fluctuations in global commodity markets, exchange rate volatility, and the increasing complexity of export supply chains. These conditions necessitate the adoption of more sophisticated controlling instruments capable of supporting resilient decision-making and long-term sustainability. The article demonstrates that financial control enables enterprises to systematically coordinate financial flows, improve transparency, strengthen internal financial discipline, and optimize resource allocation across production, storage, transportation, and marketing activities. A particular emphasis is placed on the transformative role of digitalization in shaping contemporary controlling practices. The research identifies key digital solutions relevant to agro-industrial enterprises, such as electronic audit systems, digital land cadastres, automated export logistics monitoring, real-time traceability platforms, and integrated decision-support systems based on predictive analytics and scenario modeling. These technological advancements significantly enhance the accuracy of financial reporting, reduce transaction-related uncertainties, and support the synchronization of operational and financial planning. To evaluate the level of controlling integration objectively, the article proposes a composite integral indicator that synthesizes five core dimensions: financial stability, risk exposure, digitalization efficiency, operational performance, and market activity. A detailed calculation example using hypothetical data is provided to illustrate the applicability of the indicator and to demonstrate its potential for benchmarking and managerial diagnostics. The interpretation of the results confirms that the integral indicator serves as a reliable analytical tool for identifying performance gaps, prioritizing managerial interventions, and monitoring the dynamic effectiveness of controlling systems over time. The research concludes that the integration of financial controlling into the strategic and operational management of agro-industrial enterprises is a crucial prerequisite for strengthening their economic resilience, adaptive capacity, and competitive positioning in both domestic and international grain markets. The findings underscore the importance of enhancing digital competencies, institutional coordination, and analytical capabilities to ensure transparent, evidence-based, and forward-looking decision-making. The proposed methodological approaches contribute to developing a harmonized framework to improve governance quality and increase the efficiency of agribusiness enterprises amid digital transformation and persistent economic uncertainty.
