Current state and dynamics of agribusiness development in Ukraine

Abstract

The article is aimed at studying the current trends in the development of the agrarian market of Ukraine, emphasising its significant role in the national economy through the analysis of the share of the agricultural sector in GDP generation and the dynamics of this indicator. The analysis of industry-average agribusiness performance indicators for the period 2010-2021 demonstrates a gradual increase in agricultural productivity, which is confirmed by a stable export orientation: agricultural exports annually account for about 40% of all foreign exchange earnings in the country. In addition, the study highlights the significant negative impact of quarantine restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and analyses the impact of climate change and full-scale military operations on the sustainability of agribusiness development in Ukraine. The balance between the key market indicators - national production, domestic consumption, exports and imports of agricultural products - is studied, which allows confirming the export orientation of the Ukrainian agricultural market and the absence of a shortage of agricultural products in the domestic market. The article also contains a list of the largest agricultural enterprises in Ukraine in terms of land bank size. On the basis of the obtained results, the author concludes that there is a high level of economic efficiency of land use in agricultural enterprises of the country.
