Abstract

Purpose. This study analyzes the nature of leasing as a multifaceted financial instrument and examines the dynamics and key trends of the global leasing market between 2022 and 2024. The research focuses on revealing the complex character of leasing and its strategic potential for business in a globalized environment. Methods The methodological basis of the work is a combination of analytical, comparative, and statistical approaches. By comparing different types of leasing, such as financial, operational, and international, and analyzing their respective advantages and disadvantages, a deeper understanding of this instrument was gained. Statistical data from official reports presented in tables were used to analyze market dynamics and structural changes, which helped to identify and substantiate the key trends shaping the contemporary market. Results. The research established that leasing is a complex of legal and economic relationships that enables businesses to gain access to assets without significant initial investments. The study found a stable growth in the total volume of new leasing agreements, which accelerated from 5.6% in 2023 to 6.1% in 2024. A notable shift in the balance from financial to operational leasing was recorded, reflecting the growing need for business flexibility and risk minimization. The analysis of regional distribution showed that North America and Europe hold a leading position, while Asia demonstrates the highest growth rates. A structural analysis by asset type revealed an increase in the share of industrial and IT equipment leasing, which highlights investments in technological modernization. Conclusions. The study concluded that leasing is a powerful, yet demanding, financial tool for global business, as it supports investment activity and contributes to technological progress. The identified trends—including digitalization, the integration of artificial intelligence, and adaptation to global realities—indicate a market undergoing a transformation, where the ability of participants to respond promptly to changes and effectively manage risks is a key to success.
