The purpose of the article is to develop and substantiate a methodological framework for studying the adaptation of enterprise management systems to conditions of socio-political uncertainty by identifying the key theoretical approaches, methodological principles, levels of scientific inquiry, and analytical tools necessary for investigating adaptive processes in a rapidly changing business environment. The research is based on an integrated methodological approach that combines systems theory, contingency theory, adaptive management, the resource-based view, institutional theory, the dynamic capabilities framework, and the concept of organizational resilience. General scientific and special research methods were employed, including analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, comparison, classification, systematization, structural-functional analysis, logical generalization, and conceptual modeling. The use of these methods enabled a comprehensive examination of the relationships between external socio-political factors, managerial processes, and organizational responses.
The study clarifies the essence of socio-political uncertainty as a multidimensional characteristic of the external environment formed by political, social, institutional, regulatory, and security-related factors that influence managerial decision-making and organizational development. A systematization of contemporary scientific approaches to studying adaptive processes in enterprise management systems is proposed. Their analytical potential and limitations in explaining organizational responses to instability are identified. The research substantiates a set of methodological principles, including systemicity, complexity, adaptability, dynamism, and scientific objectivity, which provide the foundation for investigating adaptive transformations in management systems. The levels of scientific inquiry relevant to adaptation studies are specified, encompassing philosophical, general scientific, specific scientific, and applied dimensions. A methodological framework for studying the adaptation of enterprise management systems under conditions of socio-political uncertainty is developed. The framework defines the object and subject of research, theoretical and methodological foundations, methodological tools, research stages, and expected scientific outcomes. The framework structures the research process by linking the object and subject of study, theoretical foundations, methodological principles, analytical methods, research stages, and expected scientific outcomes. Particular attention is paid to the methodological role of strategic flexibility, risk management, organizational learning, digital transformation, dynamic capabilities, and organizational resilience in explaining adaptive transformations of management systems. The proposed framework provides a structured basis for analyzing how enterprises respond to external instability while maintaining operational continuity and long-term development potential.
The findings confirm that the study of adaptive transformations in enterprise management systems requires a multidisciplinary and integrated methodological perspective. The proposed framework contributes to the development of management theory by integrating systems, contingency, institutional, resource-based, and adaptive perspectives into a unified methodological approach for studying enterprise management system adaptation under socio-political uncertainty. The proposed methodological framework expands the methodological toolkit available for studying adaptive transformations in enterprise management systems and provides a structured basis for future empirical investigations. From a practical perspective, the proposed methodological provisions may serve as a basis for developing managerial tools aimed at enhancing flexibility, resilience, and sustainability of enterprise management systems under conditions of continuous environmental change. Future studies should focus on developing methodological tools for assessing adaptability, constructing indicator systems for evaluating adaptive capacity, and empirically testing the proposed methodological framework across different sectors and organizational contexts.
