Abstract. Product diversification is one of the key development strategies for many companies in the context of rapidly changing markets and globalisation. This strategy allows companies to reduce the risks caused by dependence on a limited range of goods or services and expand their opportunities in new markets. However, to achieve high efficiency of this strategy, it is necessary to carefully analyse both potential opportunities and risks associated with diversification.
The purpose of the article is to study product diversification as a business development strategy. At the same time, the author defines the basic principles of product diversification, analyses its impact on strategic decisions of companies, assesses potential opportunities and risks, and develops recommendations for enterprises on the effective implementation of this strategy in the current market conditions.
To study the effective and ineffective cases of product diversification, the methods of systematic and comparative analysis are applied. The study of scientific sources allowed to identify the main trends and gaps in the study of this topic, as well as to assess the practical impact of diversification on the development of enterprises.
The study confirmed that product diversification is an effective tool for minimising risks and expanding market opportunities for enterprises, especially in a highly competitive environment and global economic transformations. At the same time, this strategy is accompanied by certain challenges, such as rising operating costs and difficulties in managing new business lines. Based on the results obtained, the article formulates recommendations for enterprises on the optimal combination of opportunities and risks of diversification, which will ensure their sustainable development.
The conclusions state that product diversification is an important mechanism for ensuring the sustainable development of an enterprise, but its effectiveness is determined by careful planning, a thorough assessment of potential risks and rational use of company resources.
