The rapid development of digital technologies has fundamentally transformed the global financial landscape, giving rise to digital currencies as a significant phenomenon in the modern economy. The proliferation of digital currencies, including cryptocurrencies and central bank digital currencies, has created both opportunities and challenges for the financial security of national economies. This article examines the dual impact of digital currencies on financial systems, emphasizing their potential to enhance economic efficiency while simultaneously introducing new risks to financial stability and national security. The study highlights the growing relevance of this topic amid the accelerating digitalization of financial services and the expanding role of decentralized financial ecosystems.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of digital currencies on the financial security of national economies by analyzing their role in payment systems, monetary policy, and regulatory frameworks.
Methods: The study employs analysis of scientific literature, generalization, systematization, and abstraction.
The research results indicate that digital currencies, when integrated within an effective regulatory framework, can contribute positively to financial security by fostering innovation and reducing systemic inefficiencies. However, the study also identifies significant risks associated with insufficient regulation, including vulnerabilities to financial crimes, market volatility, and threats to national monetary systems. The paper emphasizes the need for a balanced approach that promotes innovation while safeguarding financial stability through comprehensive policies and international cooperation.
In conclusion, digital currencies represent a transformative force in modern finance, with significant implications for the financial security of national economies. To harness their potential while mitigating associated risks, policymakers must prioritize adaptive regulatory measures, technological resilience, and collaborative international strategies. This research contributes to the ongoing scientific discourse by providing insights into the role of digital currencies in shaping secure and sustainable financial systems in an era of technological change.
