Transformation of the labor market in Ukraine under the influence of integration processes in the global economy

Abstract

The transformation of the Ukrainian labor market under the influence of integration processes in the global economy is a key issue for the country's economic and social development. As Ukraine strengthens its ties with international markets, particularly through trade agreements, foreign investment, and labor migration, significant structural changes are occurring in the national labor market. The purpose of this study is to analyze the main trends in the transformation of the labor market in Ukraine, identify the key factors of change, and assess the impact of global integration on employment structure, wage levels, and labor mobility. Methods: analysis of scientific literature, structural analysis, generalization, systematization, abstraction. The results indicate that the Ukrainian labor market is undergoing a dual transformation. On the one hand, there is a gradual shift from traditional industries such as agriculture and heavy industry to high-tech sectors, services, and the digital economy. On the other hand, labor migration remains a significant factor affecting employment trends, as a large number of skilled and unskilled workers seek better opportunities abroad, leading to labor shortages in the domestic labor market. Foreign direct investment and the expansion of international trade have contributed to job creation in certain sectors; however, economic instability and geopolitical risks continue to pose challenges to labor market stability. The analysis shows that there is an increasing demand for specialists in IT, engineering, finance, and healthcare, while traditional sectors of the economy face workforce reductions due to automation and global competition. The conclusions emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach to labor market transformation. Ensuring the adaptability of the workforce requires strategic investments in education, vocational training, and lifelong learning programs that align with global labor market trends. Government policy should focus on promoting employment in high-productivity sectors, creating conditions for entrepreneurship development, and improving social security mechanisms to protect workers in a dynamic economic environment.
