Ariadne's Thread of the Metallurgical Industry: The Role of Transport Infrastructure in the Coordinates of Global Challenges of International Trade and Competitiveness

The economy of the metallurgical industry of Ukraine is experiencing one of the most dramatic pages in its long history. A significant part of the production capacities of the metallurgical industry have been destroyed or disabled as a result of large-scale armed aggression, traditional sales markets have been largely lost, access to sources of raw materials and labor recruitment has become more difficult. The depopulation crisis has further increased the threats to the domestic economy of the metallurgical industry. This has determined the search for new means of maintaining global markets. The purpose of this article is to form a theoretical and methodological platform for analyzing the role of transport infrastructure in the implementation of programs for the effective development of the metallurgical industry in the context of modern global challenges in international trade and competitiveness. Methods: analysis and synthesis, systematization, rhizome approach, analysis of scientific literature. The results of the research allowed us to determine that at the initial stage, the development of the national economy of Ukraine largely took place in coordination with the movement of the domestic metallurgical industry. The main problems and prospects for the development of the metallurgical industry are shown. The historical evolution of the economy of the metallurgical industry is studied. The challenges of globalization regarding the dynamics of the metallurgical industry are outlined, a special role is given to the problems of export and ensuring international trade. The threats caused by large-scale aggression against the metallurgical industry are identified. The role of transport infrastructure in implementing the policy of restoring industry production is shown. The conclusion of the conducted scientific research is the argumentation of the need for further modernization of transport infrastructure, determining its leading role in the restoration of the national economy.
