Abstract

The modern development of the national economy requires the intensification of innovation processes based on effective interaction between science, business, and the state. Innovation forms the foundation of a knowledge-based economy, creating conditions for strengthening competitiveness, improving operational efficiency of enterprises, and ensuring sustainable socio-economic development. The growing complexity of the market environment and the increasing demands for technological modernization highlight the need to build an integrated innovation ecosystem. The purpose of the article is to summarize theoretical and practical approaches to forming effective interaction between science and business, to identify the synergistic potential of these relations, and to determine their significance for innovation development and the competitiveness of the economy. To achieve this goal, the article analyzes the importance of innovation for the development of modern enterprises and the national economy; examines the characteristics and prerequisites of interaction between the scientific environment and the business sector; assesses the current state of innovation activity in Ukraine; and substantiates the key advantages of creating an integrated innovation ecosystem. The methodological basis includes systemic, structural-functional, and comparative analysis. It is proven that innovation-driven development depends on the ability of enterprises to generate and commercialize knowledge, as well as on the level of institutional support. The study establishes that effective interaction between science and business is grounded in the development of social capital, conscious entrepreneurial activity, and well-organized cooperation between partners. The findings show that current indicators of innovation activity in Ukraine significantly lag behind global leaders, particularly in terms of high-tech exports and investment in R&D. It is substantiated that the synergistic effect in science–business relations fosters the creation of new solutions, enhances enterprise competitiveness, and contributes to the formation of high-technology sectors of the economy. Effective functioning of the innovation system is possible only with close cooperation among science, business, and public institutions, which ensures the activation of synergistic processes, the development of employees’ creative potential, and improved knowledge management. Coordinated actions of innovation process participants create the foundation for Ukraine’s integration into the global high-technology space, support economic modernization, and provide long-term competitive advantages.
