Improvement of methodological tools for assessing the competitive potential of industrial enterprises

The purpose of the article is to develop theoretical and methodological principles for assessing the competitive potential of industrial enterprises based on the generalization and systematization of existing scientific approaches, as well as the development of a structural-integrated model that provides a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative assessment of competitive potential, taking into account its multicomponent nature, hierarchical structure and multidirectional influence of indicators.
In the process of research, a set of general scientific and special methods was used that ensured the achievement of the set goal. In particular, the methods of theoretical generalization, systematization and classification were applied - to form a modern typology of approaches to assessing competitive potential; system-structural analysis - to substantiate the components of competitive potential and their grouping into appropriate blocks; methods of economic and statistical analysis - to form a system of relative indicators; the method of normalization (minimax transformation) - to ensure the comparability of indicators; the method of hierarchy analysis – to determine the weight coefficients of indicators and structural blocks based on pairwise comparisons and checking the consistency of expert assessments; the index method – to calculate partial and integral indicators of competitive potential.
As a result of the generalization of existing approaches to assessing competitive potential, their classification according to various characteristics was proposed. A structural-integral model of assessing the competitive potential of industrial enterprises was developed, which combines elements of different approaches, which makes it possible to ensure data comparability, take into account the different economic nature of indicators and obtain a generalized characteristic of competitive potential. At the first stage of model implementation, the formation of the research information base is carried out, which includes a system of relative indicators grouped into seven structural blocks: resource-energy, production-technological, investment-reproductive, intellectual-professional, innovation-digital, adaptation-resilient and institutional-regulatory. At the next stages of the model implementation, preliminary processing of indicators is carried out, which includes their identification as stimulants or de-stimulators and normalization using the minimax transformation method in order to ensure comparability. Determination of weight coefficients of indicators and structural blocks is carried out using the method of hierarchy analysis, which makes it possible to take into account the relative importance of indicators and ensure hierarchical consistency of the model. Further aggregation of normalized indicators within each block provides the formation of partial integral indices, on the basis of which a generalized integral indicator of the competitive potential of industrial enterprises is calculated. At the final stage of the study, a scale of interpretation of the integral indicator is proposed, which provides for the allocation of five levels of competitive potential (critically low, low, medium, sufficient, high).
