Strategies for ensuring economic resilience and business adaptability under martial law

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to provide a theoretical substantiation and systematization of approaches to ensuring the economic resilience and adaptability of enterprises under martial law conditions, as well as to identify key directions for the formation of effective adaptive business strategies.

Methods. The study employs methods of analysis and synthesis to generalize scientific approaches, a systems approach to consider business as an integrated dynamic system, comparative analysis to contrast international and domestic experience, and a structural-functional method to identify the components of adaptive business strategies.

Results. Modern theoretical approaches to the interpretation of business economic resilience are analysed, and their evolution from stabilization-based to adaptive, dynamic, and digitally oriented approaches is identified. It is substantiated that economic resilience should be considered as an integrated category combining the ability to maintain functioning, adapt, and transform business models. The impact of martial law on enterprise performance is examined, revealing the systemic nature of risks affecting financial, operational, human resource, and foreign economic domains. It is demonstrated that wartime conditions force enterprises to shift to a survival mode, accompanied by a transformation of managerial priorities and a change in the logic of strategic development. The increasing role of digital transformation is identified as a key tool for ensuring business continuity and enhancing flexibility. The main directions of enterprise adaptation are systematized, including financial flexibility, transformation of operational processes, digitalization, and diversification of foreign economic activity.

Conclusions. It is proven that effective functioning of enterprises under martial law conditions is possible only through the implementation of comprehensive adaptive strategies that integrate financial, organizational, and technological management tools. The results of the study can be applied to enhance business resilience and support strategic decision-making under conditions of prolonged instability.
