Research on investment activities in the field of information and telecommunications

Abstract

The article examines the issues of investment activity in the field of information and telecommunications, which is an important factor in the modernization of production, informatization and digitalization of the economy. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that in conditions of economic crisis and martial law, the development of information technologies is critically important for national security and effective resource management. The purpose of the study is to analyze the dynamics and structure of investment in the development of enterprises by type of economic activity "Information and telecommunications" in the pre-war and war periods, identify trends and assess the effectiveness of investment activity. Methods. To objectively assess the investment feasibility and opportunities for attracting investment in the field of information technologies, a comprehensive approach based on statistical analysis methods was used. Results. Several stages of investment activity were identified for the period 2010-2024. The largest reduction in investment occurred in 2013-2014, when in 2014 alone the volume of investment fell by 17.6%. In the following years, investment activity intensified: in 2018, the volume of investments increased by 62.5%. A sharp reduction in investments was observed in 2019 and 2022, but growth began in 2023. Significant changes occurred in the structure of investment distribution by investment direction: in 2024, only 5.4% of investments were directed to the direction of computer programming. The economic effect of investment activity many times exceeds the amount of invested funds: for 1 UAH of investment in 2024, 12 UAH of gross added value were received. Conclusions. Despite military operations and the difficult economic situation, the inflow of investments into the sphere of information and telecommunications is carried out quite stably, which ensures the effective activity of economic entities. Further research should be directed at conducting a factor analysis of the effectiveness of investment activity, modeling and forecasting expected results.
