Abstract

Purpose. This study aims to explore the impact of global retail optimization practices on enhancing the external competitiveness of Ukrainian industrial enterprises under the conditions of digital transformation and integration into global value chains. The research focuses on identifying the key factors and mechanisms of interaction between retail and industry that contribute to the formation of sustainable competitive advantages in international markets. Methods. The methodological basis of the study is a systemic approach to analyzing the interrelations between the retail and industrial sectors. A comparative analysis of international experience in retail optimization was carried out, alongside statistical analysis of competitiveness indicators. Additionally, business process modeling and expert assessments were applied. Particular attention was paid to both domestic and foreign retail optimization practices, as well as their adaptation to the specific characteristics of the Ukrainian economic environment. Results. The study revealed the main areas of retail optimization that have the greatest impact on the competitiveness of industrial enterprises. These include the digitalization of distribution channels, the integration of supply chains, personalization of customer experience, and the development of omnichannel strategies. It was proven that the implementation of such practices can increase the export potential of industrial enterprises by 15–25%, reduce logistics costs by 20–30%, and accelerate the time-to-market for new products by 1.5–2 times. These improvements significantly enhance the position of Ukrainian industry in international trade. Conclusions. Global retail optimization practices serve as a crucial driver for strengthening the external competitiveness of Ukrainian industry. The effective integration of retail and industrial sectors creates a synergistic effect, which contributes to the optimization of business processes, improvement of product quality, and enhancement of customer service. These synergies, in turn, form the foundation for sustainable competitive advantages in global markets.
