Abstract

The relevance of this study stems from the need to enhance the efficiency of enterprise resource management in the face of economic uncertainty, technological change, and intensified market competition. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations and practical approaches to assessing the effectiveness of the formation of enterprises’ production potential. Methods: analysis of scientific literature – to examine the current state of the problem; generalization and systematization – to present the research results in a structured manner. Results. The study found that existing methods for assessing the effectiveness of forming production potential vary in terms of analytical depth, complexity, and adaptability to specific industries and types of enterprises. The research characterizes integral, functional, econometric, and expert approaches, outlining their methodological features, applicable criteria, and performance indicators. A comparative analysis revealed the strengths and limitations of each method group and justified the feasibility of their combined application, depending on the enterprise’s operational context. In particular, it was found that integral methods allow for a general assessment, while econometric and functional approaches provide a more detailed understanding of the internal dynamics of production systems. The analysis of practical aspects of applying the methodology for assessing the effectiveness of production potential formation across various economic sectors revealed significant differences in the selection and interpretation of indicators, which must be considered during evaluation. It is substantiated that a universal methodology for assessing production potential is ineffective, and an alternative lies in the use of adaptive assessment models that take into account industry-specific factors, the level of digitalization, and the availability of analytical data. The conclusions emphasize the need to modernize methods for evaluating the effectiveness of forming production potential in light of current trends in sustainable development, the innovation economy and data-driven management. The proposed recommendations aim to enhance the accuracy, objectivity, and analytical value of enterprise performance evaluations, thereby supporting more informed managerial decision-making and strengthening the strategic potential of enterprises.
