Automation of IT project management using modern tools: Jira, Trello, and Monday

Relevance of the research is driven by the growing demands for efficiency in IT project management under conditions of high digital dynamics, multi-level team coordination, and the need for real-time, data-informed decision-making. In this context, the implementation of automation tools capable of ensuring transparency, flexible planning, and process control becomes critically important. However, the practical use of platforms such as Jira, Trello, and Monday reveals inconsistency and selective efficiency, which necessitates theoretical substantiation and systematic analysis.
The aim of the article is to identify the strategic feasibility of implementing Jira, Trello, and Monday in IT project management and to determine the factors that ensure their effective integration into the organizational environment, considering the company’s level of digital maturity, project team structure, and business process typology.
Research methodology is based on an interdisciplinary approach combining system, functional, and comparative methods, supported by case analysis, critical review of scientific and applied sources, and logical-analytical techniques for interpreting the practical outcomes of platform integration in IT companies of various scales.
Research results demonstrate that IT project management is a domain requiring digital support for decision-making due to complexity and rapid change. The functionalities of Jira, Trello, and Monday are analyzed in terms of automating planning, monitoring, and team collaboration. Key implementation barriers are identified, including limited compatibility with existing infrastructure, organizational resistance, and insufficient staff training. Recommendations are developed for selecting and adapting these platforms in accordance with a company’s digital maturity level.
Conclusions confirm that successful automation depends not only on the platform’s technical capabilities but also on integration depth, change management support, and personnel readiness for digital transformation.
Prospects for further research include the quantitative assessment of productivity impacts, cost-benefit analysis of platform adoption for resource-constrained companies, and the development of a dynamic model of digital maturity in organizational systems.
