The Canada–Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA): Preconditions, Content, and Implications for Bilateral Tradе

Abstract

The article explores the significance of the Canada–Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA) in the context of deepening Ukraine’s global economic ties. It analyzes the history of the agreement’s conclusion, its key provisions, the economic and political impact on both parties, as well as the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation. Special attention is given to the role of CUFTA amid the military aggression against Ukraine, highlighting it as a factor of economic resilience and integration into the Western market.

The study examines the main provisions of CUFTA, their importance for Ukraine’s small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the challenges associated with implementing the agreement under martial law.
